TA training program in Biology and Chemistry improves quality of graduate student teaching. 

One goal of the HHMI Drennan Education Laboratory at MIT, led by the Chemistry and Biology Professor Cathy Drennan, is to create a supportive teaching community among graduate students and improve course recitations by increasing TA confidence and enthusiasm. Toward that aim, the group has developed and implemented two versions of a TA-training “boot camp” for the Chemistry and Biology Departments.

Now in its fourth year, the Timeline of the Russian Revolution is used every spring in Professor Elizabeth Wood's Russian History course for student research and scholarship.

OEIT Director Vijay Kumar will be the keynote speaker at this year's ICDE conference in Tianjin, China. The International Council for Open and Distance Education is the "leading global membership organization for enhancing the quality of open, distance, flexible and online education, including e-learning."

OEIT is pleased to announce the launch of the HHMI Drennan Education Laboratory’s new online science education resource at http://mv.ezproxy.com.ezproxyberklee.flo.org. The aims of this group are to develop and assess in-class resources that help students recognize the underlying chemical principles in biology and medicine. This newest resource hosts a collection of two-minute videos that feature MIT researchers, each discussing a general chemistry concept in the context of their own cutting-edge research.

Over 70 MIT faculty and 50 MIT staff gathered on May 17, 2013 to participate in the Office of Digital Learning's daylong meeting on technology-enabled education at MIT.

Task Force Reports
The morning featured chairs of the digital learning task forces reporting on aspects of 21^st century learning such as video, learning spaces, assessment, research, hands-on learning, games, graduate education and concept mapping.
