Creating Interactive Media

Learn how to create graphics and interactive media using software tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Unity3D. This workshop introduces principles and techniques for visual communication and provides opportunities to acquire practical skills in the digital visual arts, including, but not limited to: designing raster and vector graphics; storyboarding a game; creating 3D game objects; and scripting a graphical
user interface and interactions.

Last month, Una-May O'Reilly presented her research at an xTalk: Taming MOOC Big Data.

Over the past three years and with the support of NSF, Prof. Michel DeGraff (Linguistics & Philosophy), Dr. Vijay Kumar (OEIT Director) and their team are working with MIT faculty and staff, alongside partner institutions in Haiti, on an exciting initiative that uses Open Educational Resources and educational technology to bring vibrant innovative pedagogies to STEM education in Haiti.

"Online Teacher Education in Pakistan"

This Thursday, Nov 21 at 1:30, Isaac Chuang and Daniel  Seaton will present as part of ODL's xTalks: Digital Discourses seminar series. Their talk, titled "Research with MITx Data", will focus on their work with data generated from MITx and edX.

The Office of Educational Innovation and Technology (OEIT/ODL) is collaborating with Massachusetts community colleges to develop technology-enabled components to expand training opportunities in advanced manufacturing. Collaborating faculty will work together in areas where technology - through the delivery of online course material, simulations and gaming technology - will allow community colleges to expand limited lab space to increase hands-on learning, an essential element of manufacturing training.

OEIT was a critical player in breathing new life into Cultura, a legacy system of considerable pedagogical value in danger of extinction.

Cultura offers students the opportunity to explore the nuances of language through a networked  inter-cultural system that promotes discourse between students in two language groups. Each student cohort shares subjective reflections on words that are similar in the two languages, thus allowing subtle differences in meaning to emerge.
